This time I reviewed a disc that's part of the "Nu School".

What's up Jesus Freaks? This time I reviewed a disc that's part of the "Nu School". First off let me say that I've been getting into a lot of new bands lately. My main love is the traditional metal but some of these new guys I really dig. With that being said, I want to tell you about this new CD I bought a couple of weeks ago. The band is Broken. The sound is Rap-Core or Rap-Metal whatever you guys are calling it nowadays. I've never been a fan of Rap....unless it has crunching metal guitar behind it.

Now, I think we all know that this form of metal is slowly going the way of the dinosaur. I do, however, think that some form of Rap-Rock will be around for a long time. Why? I'll tell you why. This generation has a lot of people that grew up on Rock and Rap music, which means that somehow the two will always kind of mesh together somehow. So here it is.

Broken is: Isaac Benavidez-Lead Vocals, Andy Schafer-Drums, Andrew Horst-Bass, John Donahoe-DJ, and Rob Clark on Guitar. The album as a whole is nothing new or groundbreaking but there are some songs that I really dig. "Cage" has a killer riff to it but the vocals and the bass seem to get lost in the mix. "Stand" is another song that sticks out. It's a great song about standing up for Christ, which a lot of bands nowadays really don't sing too much about. I think that's one of the reasons I like this band because of their boldness for Christ. "Unbelief" and "Six feet Unda" are the two remaining tracks on here that I can get into. Broken sounds like a lot of other bands but they do have their own energy.

I think this band would be great if they could get better production. They've got the energy and the skills but need to work on the DJ thing and vocals. Is this an album I think will sell big? No. But I don't think these guys care about that. I think these guys really want to minister for the Lord, which I think is the most important thing.

I can see Broken growing and maturing as long as they get better production time. This album Rocks! And it's fun! I think it could be a workout album for me when I start at the gym (believe me, I need it). Broken could be a force to reckon with in the Rap-Core, Rap Metal whatever you want to call it arena. If you want to know more about these guys the web address is www.mercystreetrecords.com. Well that brings me to another exciting fun filled review. Write me back and let me know what you all think. My address is gb@reignradio.com . Let me know what you think (just don't yell at me) I'm fragile. Oh yeah, if you can help me name my column, I would appreciate it.

Since I'm an old metal-head, my rating scale will be hair spray cans. Peace! God bless you and talk to you soon. Remember....Don't wear Spandex and keep your nose in the WORD!!

Broken: 2 and a half cans out of four.
